This does not necessarily mean they are counterfeit but it is something to be aware of. This is a heads up as I'm sure owners will ask questions about missing date codes and heat stamps and many new bags will not have any. There are many new bags and other LV items that are already confusing owners because they have no date code anywhere but only say where the item was made. These are steps taken to clearly help stop counterfeiting but it may come up here as well. This is a contentious issue at LV and with consumers because authenticators will now have less ways to tell if a Louis Vuitton item is real or fake, and RFID chips and other chips can be hacked very easily and many times from a remote location even.
Louis Vuitton has been utilizing this technology since February on many Neverfull Clubs and Empreinte Neverfulls. These items will not have date codes but will continue to say where the item was made unless it is made in the USA.
In January 2021, Louis Vuitton announced that they will be switching from using heat-stamped date codes to integrated micro chips and RFID chips in all of their products.
